- How is this different from the domain health check?
- Domain health (/tools/domain-health) is the fast preflight: MX, SPF, DKIM presence, and DMARC. This audit goes deeper into transport security — whether inbound mail servers can even be reached, and whether MTA-STS, TLS-RPT, and DANE/TLSA are published to protect mail in transit. Run domain health first if you're migrating; run this one to see what a stricter reviewer would flag.
- What are MTA-STS, TLS-RPT, and DANE?
- All three protect mail while it's in transit between servers, and all three are optional adoption, not requirements — this audit never marks a domain down for skipping them. MTA-STS forces incoming mail over encrypted, verified connections. TLS-RPT asks receiving servers to report back when that encryption fails. DANE/TLSA anchors the same guarantee in DNSSEC instead of the web PKI.
- Is this really free, with no email required?
- Yes. Enter a domain and the full report renders immediately — nothing is gated behind an email address, and there's no login. The optional email box below the results only sends you a copy; declining it changes nothing about what you can see.
- Why does my score not add up to 100?
- The score is out of the categories this audit could actually assess, not out of a fixed 100 — a check that timed out or a category not yet built is left out of both sides of the fraction rather than counted as a failure. The report always states how many weighted points were assessed.
