Auto-save begins the moment you type into any field — To, Subject, body, From. A new draft is created on first keystroke; subsequent edits patch the same row. You'll see a quiet Saved mark pulse in the window's footer whenever a save lands.

§ Cadence

  • ·First save: immediately on first keystroke.
  • ·Subsequent saves: every three seconds of idle time after any edit.
  • ·On close: a final save flushes before the window is unmounted.

§ The Drafts folder

The sidebar holds a Drafts link beneath the inbox. It opens a quieter view — no stripes, no sender; just the subject, the recipient, and the timestamp of the most recent save. Click any row to resume exactly where you left off. The From is preserved; the body is preserved; the attachments are preserved.

§ Deleting a draft

Click the small Discard link in the compose footer to remove a draft permanently. Drafts do not visit the Trash — they are gone the moment you discard. Treat the button as "tear it up" rather than "file it away".
