The Cheapest Way to Host Multiple Email Domains for Serial Entrepreneurs

Compare aliases, paid users and account-priced hosting using real limits. Three, five and ten domains do not automatically mean three, five or ten seats.

The short answer: count mailboxes, not just domains

The cheapest way to host multiple email domains depends on whether you need aliases for one person or separate mailboxes for several users, plus your sending and storage needs. Adding domains does not necessarily add paid seats. If your existing plan supports the aliases you need, keeping it may cost less than migrating.

Avoid false savings calculations

For a hypothetical $7/month user license, one user with supported aliases costs $84/year; five separate paid users cost $420/year. The $336 difference is the cost of four additional users, not a mandatory surcharge for four additional domains. These are illustrative numbers, not a current Google price quote.

Similarly, forwarding alone may be cheap for receipt but does not supply authenticated outbound sending. Compare forwarding with full hosting before calling the cheaper option equivalent.

A buying checklist for a small portfolio

Count people who need independent access, then distinguish aliases from separate mailboxes.
List current domain renewal costs, stored mail, typical sends and peak-day volume.
Check the plan's limits, billing term, support and export path. Include migration time in the decision.
Test each domain's receiving address, reply identity and new-message identity before committing to a full move.

Do I need to leave Workspace to avoid paying for every domain?

No. Workspace user alias domains can add addresses for existing users without another user charge. You pay for additional licensed users when you create them; domain count alone is not user count.
